Review: The Museum of Childhood, Brayford I visited this small museum on a rainy afternoon, and I’m glad I did. It is in an old school building, only two minutes’ walk the bus station. Entry is free, although visitors are asked to give a small to help pay for repairs to the building. The museum has toys from the last two hundred years, wooden horses, dolls’ houses and early computer games. Children are to play with many of the toys, which makes it much more fun than most museums. My favourite room was a classroom from the 1950s, with its old desks and blackboard. You can even sit down and practise writing with a pen and ink. There is a café on the ground floor, but it gets very busy at weekends, so you should a table in advance. Overall, it’s an excellent place for families, and you could easily a whole afternoon there.
