The Lost Wallet Lesson
A first-person story about losing a wallet and learning to ask for help
Last Saturday I went to the city centre to buy a birthday present for my sister. I felt excited because I had saved money for weeks and I knew exactly what I wanted. When I arrived, the streets were crowded and there was loud music from a street performer. Because of the noise and people, I stopped near a café to check my bag and make sure everything was safe. To my shock, my wallet was not there, so I quickly looked on the ground around my feet. Then I went inside the café and asked the woman at the counter if anyone had found a wallet. A few minutes later I found the guard near the main entrance and explained what had happened. We looked through them together, and I finally saw my wallet with a red sticker on it. After that, I checked that everything was still inside, and I thanked the guard again and again. Since then I have been more careful, and I have also learned that asking politely can solve problems faster than panicking.
